Design Socket: Product Design Lead

Lead product design across Socket's security platform suite, setting design vision and strategy while partnering with engineering, CEO, and customers to create intuitive developer experiences.

Lead Posted about 16 hours ago We Work Remotely — Programming
What this role involves

Headquarters: United States

Who we are

Socket helps devs and security teams ship faster by cutting out security busywork. Thousands of orgs use Socket to safely find, audit, and manage open source code. Our customers — from Anthropic to xAI, and Figma to Vercel — love Socket (just check out their tweets to see for yourself!)

Founded by Feross Aboukhadijeh, a long-time open source maintainer with software downloaded over a billion times a month, Socket has raised $65M in funding from top angels, operators, and security leaders.

A Letter From our Founder & CEO: The world now runs on open source. Every company, every product, every device you touch depends on code written by strangers on the internet. This is one of humanity’s greatest achievements, but it’s also one of its greatest vulnerabilities. When the software supply chain breaks, the world breaks with it.

Our job at Socket is simple to describe and incredibly hard to execute: protect the software that powers everything.

That requires world-class engineering, but it also requires world-class design.

Security tools are infamous for blinking lights, noisy dashboards, and walls of alerts that no human can keep up with. Developers don't need more noise. They need clarity. They need tools that help them see the truth instantly so they can act with confidence.

This is where design becomes a strategic weapon.

Great design in security isn't ornamental. It's leverage. It's how we reduce cognitive load, cut through chaos, and make the complex feel intuitive. It's how we give millions of developers a sense of control in an environment that often feels unknowable. It's how we move the entire industry forward.

Socket now has five products that all share the same purpose but solve different layers of the supply chain problem: Socket Open Source, Socket Firewall, Socket Certified Patches, Socket Basics, and Extension Guard.

Your role is to bring coherence, clarity, and vision to the platform as a whole.

You'll work directly with the CEO (Feross), with our engineering team, with our sales and marketing teams, and with our customers who rely on Socket to secure mission-critical systems. Your fingerprints will be on everything we ship. This isn't a supportive design function. It's a core leadership role shaping how developers experience the future of supply chain security.

Some of the most design-driven teams in the world use Socket — Vercel, OpenAI, Figma, Replit, and others. These teams care about clarity, craft, and speed, and they expect tools that meet their standards. Your work will be in front of people who notice the details, which pushes all of us to raise the bar. It's one of the most energizing parts of this role.

We're looking for someone who sweats the details, thinks in systems, obsesses about clarity, and understands that design is as much about how things work as how they look. Someone who can help us define the primitives, patterns, and interactions that let developers move fast without compromising safety. Someone who wants to build a standard the rest of the industry follows.

This is a rare opportunity to design a product that protects the global software ecosystem. The work you do here will directly influence how the world builds and ships code. If you care about craft, if you care about impact, and if you want your design work to matter on a massive scale, then you'll thrive here.

Let's build the future of secure software together.

What You'll Do:

  • Shape the entire platform, your work will create the coherent vision that ties everything together, ensuring that whether a developer is using Socket Open Source, the Firewall, Certified Patches, or any of our other products, they experience clarity and craft.

  • Lead design as strategy, your design decisions will directly influence how developers understand and interact with supply chain security. You'll think in systems, define design primitives that scale across our platform, and obsess over the details that separate good products from great ones.

  • Partner with leadership, your voice will be essential in shaping what we build, how we prioritize, and how we communicate the value of Socket to the world.

  • Design end-to-end experiences across Socket's product portfolio that make complex security concepts feel approachable and actionable for developers.

  • Work with the engineering team to develop interfaces that abstract away complexity while preserving the rigor and precision security demands.

  • Establish and evolve Socket's design system, creating patterns and components that let us move fast without compromising on craft or consistency.

  • Shape the visual and interaction language that developers associate with Socket, establishing a standard others follow.

  • Participate in customer conversations to understand how developers actually use our products and where clarity breaks down.

  • Help define the roadmap and prioritize design opportunities that will have the most impact on adoption and user success.

  • Be part of hiring and building a world-class design team as we grow.

What You'll Bring:

  • You've shipped products at a high bar and understand the difference between surface-level polish and systems-level clarity.

  • Deep experience designing for developers or technical audiences, you understand the contexts where clarity really matters.

  • Portfolio that demonstrates systems thinking: how you've defined design languages, built component systems, and maintained consistency across complex products.

  • Comfort working directly with engineering and product leadership, able to move fast and make decisions without excessive process.

  • Experience designing security or infrastructure tools is a plus, but not required, what matters is your ability to take complexity and make it clear.

  • You care about craft. The details matter to you, not because they're decorative but because they're functional. You understand that every pixel, every interaction, every word choice shapes how someone experiences a product.

As we know how important clarity is when looking for a new role, we've put together a read-me about the Interview Process at Socket, should you be invited for an interview.

At Socket, we

  1. Pursue Excellence: We set ourselves apart by consistently delivering work of exceptional quality and distinction.

  2. Move with urgency and focus: We prioritize swift, decisive action.

  3. Think rigorously: We care about being right and it often takes reasoning from first principles to get there. We value alternative perspectives and have constructive discussions.

  4. Trust and amplify: We overtrust, always assume good intent, and give specific feedback to help each other improve.

  5. Feel a strong sense of ownership: We wear many hats and feel a strong sense of overall ownership of the company and we're non-territorial regarding our nominal domains.

  6. Are customer obsessed: We relentlessly prioritize the needs of our customers, striving to exceed their expectations and delight them at every interaction.

Design Lead Product Designer at BVNK

Lead Product Designer owns and scales a design system serving 50+ people across design, engineering, and product teams, improving documentation and enabling AI-friendly component patterns.

Lead Posted about 19 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About us:

We believe the next generation of financial services will be powered by stablecoins.

Founded in 2021, our mission at BVNK is to accelerate global money movement.

We’re building stablecoin-native infrastructure so businesses can move value instantly across borders and networks. With global licenses and T1 bank partnerships, we facilitate billions in transactions for enterprise clients like Worldpay, Deel, LianLian Global, and Rapyd.

Our technology is transforming how businesses operate globally by eliminating payment delays, reducing costs, and unlocking trapped capital.

We’re a diverse team spread across EMEA, North America, and APAC, with a shared belief that stablecoins are the new infrastructure layer for financial services, and that BVNK is at the forefront of this shift.

In 2025, we secured strategic investment from Visa, following our $50 million Series B with Haun Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Scribble Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, Avenir, and Tiger Global. With the backing of these leading investors, we’re accelerating our growth – and we’re looking for smart, ambitious people to help us build the future of financial services.

We’re incredibly honored to have made Newsweek’s list of The Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces three years running (most recently in 2025) and to have been recognised by LinkedIn as one of the Top 20 Startups in the UK in 2024.

About this role in the team:

Design at BVNK is split into two areas — Customer Value Stream and Core Platform. The design system serves both, along with front-end, backend, and the PMs prototyping with it. We’re hiring a Lead Product Designer to own it.

The system already works. It’s built on atomic principles, with React components, Storybook examples, and usage guidance in Zeroheight. The job is to tighten the patterns, improve the documentation, and enable cohesive builds for people who don’t need to know what a design system is,  including the growing number of designers and PMs building directly in repos with Claude. Designing a system that AI can consume cleanly, so generated work lands close to production instead of drifting, is a meaningful part of this.

You’ll sit in the Core Platform pod and report to the Head of Design, pairing with Principal Designer - Core Platform and Principal Front-end engineers on the strategic direction of the system. The system supports around fifty people across design, front-end, backend, and product.

The work is to scale the system and advocate for it across the org as the consumer base grows.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

Own the design system end-to-end

  • Set and ship the roadmap. Decide what to build, what to deprecate, what to leave alone, and what to invest in next
  • Keep the Figma–Storybook–Zeroheight stack tight. One source of truth per concept, clear documentation, no duplication
  • Partner with front-end on contribution flows, component APIs, and the design-to-code handshake.
  • Read and reason about the component code, not just the designs. You don’t need to ship production React, but you should be able to look at a component’s implementation, understand its props and composition, and have credible conversations with front-end about tradeoffs
  • Run the unglamorous governance work — audits, deprecations, docs hygiene, naming — alongside the new-component work

Design a system that AI can consume cleanly

  • Build the system so LLMs and AI prototyping tools generate against it with minimal drift. Component naming, prop structure, usage docs, and examples should all be readable by humans and by models
  • Use AI in your own workflow to audit existing patterns, draft component documentation, scaffold new components, and pressure-test API design
  • Treat the PMs prototyping with AI as a real user group. Their drift is your signal
  • Share what works. The wider design and product org should benefit from what you learn about AI-friendly system design

Work AI-first, not AI-curious

  • Start in an LLM. Use Claude to clarify intent, draft short PRDs, pressure-test approaches, and surface risks and second-order effects before involving the wider team
  • Prototype with Claude Code. Generate working components and patterns, then guide them on structure, behaviour, and quality
  • Treat AI as a velocity tool across the work — not a novelty, not a side project
  • Create new Claude plugins and Skills to keep design prompts consistent

Sell the system’s value, in the open

  • Articulate the system’s impact in metrics, not vibes: adoption, contribution rates, time-to-ship for product teams, prototype-to-production drift, consistency across surfaces
  • Make the work visible. Demo it, write about it, share patterns and decisions with designers, engineers, and PMs
  • Run crits and reviews around system changes. Mentor designers contributing to the system. Help front-end and PMs become better consumers of it
  • Build the case for further investment in the system as it grows

What we need from you:

  • Experience shipping and governing a design system in production, used by multiple product teams. Not a side project, not a one-off rebuild
  • Senior craft across Figma, tokens, component architecture, and the design-engineering handshake.
  • Working technical literacy in HTML, CSS, and React/TypeScript. You can read component code fluently, understand prop APIs and composition patterns, and reason about implementation tradeoffs with front-end engineers. You don’t need to ship production code, but you should be able to prototype in it
  • Evidence of running a real roadmap for a system — deciding what to build, what to deprecate, what to defer — and an ability to talk about the metrics that justified those calls
  • Fluent, daily use of LLMs and AI prototyping tools as part of your actual workflow — not as something you’ve read about. Be prepared to show us how you use them, and how you think about AI as a consumer of the systems you build
  • Experience in fintech, payments, crypto/stablecoins, or another regulated domain is a plus but not required
  • Excellent written communication. A lot of our work happens async, and clarity compounds

What you can expect from us:

  • Fair and competitive salary at every stage of your growth
  • Flexible working hours, with hybrid working at its heart
  • A culture built on passionate, growth-minded people
  • A flexible approach to holiday
  • Opportunities to travel to our offices around the world
  • An open and creative environment where you can help us define the future of BVNK, its culture, and its opportunity sets

At BVNK, we are focused on building a diverse and inclusive team. While you may not meet all of our requirements, we’d encourage you to apply if you meet the majority of our expectations. You may be a great fit for this role or another role in our team.

We’re incredibly honored to have made Newsweek’s list of The Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces three years running (most recently in 2025) and to have been recognised by LinkedIn as one of the Top 20 Startups in the UK in 2024.

About this role in the team:

Design at BVNK is scaling into 2 areas: Customer Value Stream (the surfaces our clients use to send, receive, store, and convert) and Core Platform (the systems that make all of it work). We’re hiring a Principal Product Designer to own design for Core Platform and Fincrime.

This is the chess end of design at BVNK. The work spans onboarding, treasury, reconciliation, billing, core processing, and financial crime — compliance case management, sanctions and transaction monitoring, internal ops tooling, and the platform primitives every customer-facing product depends on. The users are experts — compliance analysts, ops teams, finance — and the design problems are about taming real complexity, holding several constraints in your head at once, and finding the move that’s both correct and elegant.

You’ll be one of two Principal Designers, reporting to the Head of Design, and partnering closely with the Directors of Product for Platform and Fincrime on long-range strategy. While we continue to build out the senior bench, you’ll also work day-to-day alongside our senior product managers on the problems in front of us. The pod includes our Lead Designer for the Design System, whose work you’ll help shape strategically.

As the area grows, this role has a path into design management.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

Own design for Core Platform and Fincrime end-to-end

  • Set the design direction for Product Platform (onboarding, treasury & reconciliation, billing, core processing) and Fincrime (compliance, monitoring, case management)
  • Partner with PM and engineering to define problems, explore solution spaces, validate concepts, and ship product improvements that move the metrics that matter for these areas — operational efficiency, false-positive rates, time-to-resolution, onboarding conversion, platform reliability
  • Stay involved through launch and iteration. Handoff is not the finish line.

Work AI-first, not AI-curious

  • Start in an LLM. Use Claude to clarify intent, draft short PRDs, pressure-test approaches, and surface risks, edge cases, and second-order effects before involving the wider team
  • Prototype with Claude Code. Generate working flows and interfaces, then guide them on structure, behaviour, and UX quality. Partner with engineers on what graduates into the product
  • Treat research as a velocity tool, not a gate. Talk to internal users (ops, compliance, finance) and external customers directly; run small tests; adjust direction quickly
  • Bring work into Figma for full state coverage, system alignment, and production readiness once direction is validated

Design for the 80⁄20 in a complex domain

  • Encode the judgment and complexity required for regulated, high-stakes workflows under the hood, while keeping the default experience simple and successful for most users
  • Build for expert users without falling into the trap of exposing every option. Decide what to surface, what to automate, and what to hide
  • Hold the line on design quality across surfaces that are easy to neglect because they’re internal

Raise the bar across the design org

  • Run crits and design reviews in your area, and contribute to them across the team
  • Mentor senior and mid-level designers; help them grow into harder problems
  • Share prompts, patterns, workflows, and learnings — what works with LLMs, what doesn’t, what’s worth standardising
  • Partner with the Lead Designer for the Design System (who sits in this pod) on the strategic direction of the system, making sure Core Platform work strengthens it

What we need from you:

  • A portfolio that demonstrates leading design for complex, operational, or expert-user products — not just consumer surfaces. Compliance, ops tooling, financial systems, developer platforms, healthcare workflows, or similar
  • Evidence of shipping work that moved real business or operational metrics, and an ability to talk about those numbers fluently
  • Fluent, daily use of LLMs and AI prototyping tools as part of your actual workflow — not as something you’ve read about. Be prepared to show us how you use them
  • Senior craft in Figma, prototyping, and design systems, with the judgment to know when each is the right tool and when it isn’t
  • A track record of operating as a senior IC across multiple product areas and influencing peers, PMs, and engineering leaders
  • Experience in fintech, payments, crypto/stablecoins, or another regulated domain is a strong plus but not required if the operational/expert-UX experience is there
  • Excellent written communication.

Design Principal Product Designer - Core Platform at BVNK

Principal Product Designer leading design strategy for core platform and financial crime systems, working on complex B2B financial infrastructure products.

What this role involves

Headquarters: United States

Company Overview:

Blink Health is the fastest growing healthcare technology company that builds products to make prescriptions accessible and affordable to everybody.  Our two primary products – BlinkRx and Quick Save – remove traditional roadblocks within the current prescription supply chain, resulting in better access to critical medications and improved health outcomes for patients.

BlinkRx is the world’s first pharma-to-patient cloud that offers a digital concierge service for patients who are prescribed branded medications. Patients benefit from transparent low prices, free home delivery, and world-class support on this first-of-its-kind centralized platform. With BlinkRx, never again will a patient show up at the pharmacy only to discover that they can’t afford their medication, their doctor needs to fill out a form for them, or the pharmacy doesn’t have the medication in stock.

We are a highly collaborative team of builders and operators who invent new ways of working in an industry that historically has resisted innovation. Join us!

As Lead Product Designer at BlinkRx, you will support the day-to-day design needs of a cross-functional product team and drive alignment across multiple product areas. You’ll partner closely with stakeholders, product managers, engineers, and other product designers to help define and execute on BlinkRx’s overall product vision and strategy. You’ll be a vocal advocate for all segments of users and customers and consistently deliver intuitive, well-crafted user experiences for BlinkRx products.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft a modern, engaging user experience that solves both user and business needs.

  • Organize and facilitate collaborative work sessions and design thinking exercises that span multiple teams or departments.

  • Utilize user research insights and data analysis to inform design decisions, as well as identify where additional data and research are needed.

  • Propose and concept new product opportunities that are additive to product strategy and provide value to all patient and user segments.

  • Define interaction patterns, user flows, and complex information architecture models that support the end-to-end user journey through our products.

  • Generate low, medium, and high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for products and user interfaces.

  • Conduct a basic level of generative and evaluative user research including moderation of user sessions, synthesizing feedback, and sharing insights for broader team consumption and action.

  • Document all product design work, including detailed UI specifications, UX decision making and supporting rationale, and user interview insights.

  • Identify and develop toolkits and processes that empower team members and scale the design team.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of product design experience in a similar role or product organization

  • BA/BS degree in Design, HCI, or equivalent practical experience

  • Problem-solving skills in complex software applications and platforms.

  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Figma and the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite

  • A blended skill set of visual design, information architecture, interaction design, various prototyping methods, and basic user research skills

  • Proven track record of collaborating successfully with a cross-functional product and engineering teams to launch products

  • Experience leading a style guide or design system initiative and driving organization-wide usage and adoption

  • Ability to exhibit strong judgement and decision making skills

  • A comprehensive portfolio of product design case studies that showcase early concepts and iterations, supporting user research, performance metrics, and design processes used throughout the duration of each project.

Why Join Us:

It is rare to have a company that both deeply impacts its customers and is able to provide its services across a massive population.  At Blink, we have a huge impact on people when they are most vulnerable: at the intersection of their healthcare and finances. We are also the fastest growing healthcare company in the country and are driving that impact across millions of new patients every year.  Our business model not only helps people, but drives economics that allow us to build a generational company. We are a relentlessly learning, constantly curious, and aggressively collaborative cross-functional team dedicated to inventing new ways to improve the lives of our customers.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity of all kinds. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Trusted by teams at companies like Genesco, Asana, Pinterest, and Synaptics, it’s a great time to join us.

How we work

We’re a team that values diversity in all its forms and loves adding new perspectives. We ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, and build with empathy, for customers and for each other. We care about craft, we love feedback, and we take ownership. We also embrace humor (yes, the puns are real), because doing serious work doesn’t have to feel so serious.

Our workforce is fully remote, and your personal working hours can be based on your own timezone. All team-wide meetings are scheduled to be inclusive of all North American time zones.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Principal Product Designer to join our design team. At Ethena design is part of our business strategy, not a service function. This role will own the design of new product features while helping shape how we build, using AI-driven development to move fast without sacrificing quality. You’ll be a key contributor to Ethena’s growing product surface area and the design practice itself.

What you’ll do

  • Report to the VP of Design

  • Own the end-to-end design process for new product features from early concept through to shipped, collaborating closely with product and engineering throughout

  • Leverage AI tools throughout your process (we use Cursor and Claude Code to accelerate design iterations and rely on working prototypes to test ideas before shipping)

  • Communicate and rationalize design decisions to internal and external stakeholders, keeping users’ needs centered throughout

  • Own our qualitative research practice and work directly with users to turn insights into product direction

  • Shape short- and long-term product planning as the design voice, partnering with product and engineering from discovery through delivery

What makes a great candidate

  • A track record of shipping product at a high-growth startup; you know what it takes to get things over the line

  • A genuine fascination with users and a talent for translating messy research into clear product direction

  • Able to reduce complex problems to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use

  • AI-first in how you work, with a clear-eyed view of where they add value

  • An excellent communicator who can manage up and collaborate across functions, making the case for good design without needing to fight for it

  • A self-starter who thrives in a hands-off management environment, takes ownership with a ‘roll up your sleeves mentality’, is comfortable with ambiguity, and drives work forward with minimal oversight

  • We’re a startup so we’re not just looking for someone to run a playbook. We want you to help build it.

  • Passion for what we’re building here at Ethena and a strong alignment with our core values (which includes an impeccable sense of humor)

$200,000 - $240,000 a year

At Ethena, we’re committed to fair and equitable compensation. We carefully evaluate each candidate’s skills and qualifications to provide our best possible offer upfront. Our no-negotiation policy ensures that our first offer is always our best offer, promoting pay equity throughout our organization.

Physical Demands

This is sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing in a home office environment.

Location

Ethena is a remote-first organization and is currently hiring candidates based in the United States.

We are not currently offering employer visa sponsorship for this role.

AI Usage in Interviews:

We’re big fans of AI and use it heavily in our day-to-day work. That said, to ensure fairness and accurate skill assessment, we do not allow the use of AI tools (including note takers, transcription tools, or recordings) during interviews. If you have questions or need accommodations, we’re happy to chat — just let us know.

Benefits

The benefits offered for this position can be found here. We provide unlimited PTO.

How to Apply

Applications for this position will be accepted via our job board. Excited about the opportunity, but worried you don’t meet all the requirements? Apply anyway, and give us both the chance to find out. We welcome you to read more about our approach to job descriptions by our Chief People Officer, Melanie Naranjo. Ethena does not discriminate based on race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, Veteran status, or other legally protected status. We understand that our differences make us better. They empower us to learn from each other, lean on each other, and create a product and community that models the behavior we hope to see in others.

We’re transforming our product toward an AI-era experience, and this role is central to that evolution.

What we value

  • Design Craft and conviction — you have opinions, you can defend them, and you’re curious when challenged
  • AI enthusiasm — you see AI as expanding what’s possible, not threatening to craft, and can prove it.
  • Systems thinking — you care about consistency, patterns, and the long-term health of the experience

What you’ll do

  • Own end-to-end design for key product areas, from discovery and definition through delivery and iteration
  • Set the Design Craft bar — lead critiques, challenge the team to do their best work, and advocate for quality at every stage
  • Steward our design system in a lean environment — help own the component library, enforce consistency, and evolve patterns as we scale
  • Bring AI-forward thinking to every product surface — identify AI opportunities, design for AI-native interactions, and push the team to think differently about what’s possible
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering on strategy, tradeoffs, and roadmap decisions — with the user experience always at the center
  • Help evolve our product from its established foundation toward a genuinely AI-era experience

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ years of product design experience with a portfolio that demonstrates clear Design Craft and conviction
  • Experience in B2B SaaS with complex, data-driven product interfaces
  • Ability to steward a design system without dedicated system manager support
  • Genuine AI enthusiasm and demonstrated curiosity about designing for AI-native experiences
  • Strong communication and critique skills. You can defend your decisions and give feedback that makes work better
  • Comfort making design calls in ambiguous situations with incomplete information
  • Close collaboration experience with Engineering and Product in a fast-moving environment

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role is $205k–$228k USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience and subject to market rate adjustment.

We know our people are what make us great, and we’re committed to taking great care of them. Our inclusive benefits package supports your well-being and growth, including 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance premiums for you and your family. We also offer 16 weeks paid parental leave, unlimited PTO, stipends for remote work and wellness, a professional development budget, and more.

At DEPT®, we take pride in creating an inclusive workplace where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive. We actively seek to recruit, develop, nurture, and retain talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, with varying skills and perspectives.

Not sure you meet all qualifications? Apply, and let us decide! Research shows that women and members of underrepresented groups tend not to apply for jobs when they think they may not meet every requirement, when in fact they do. We believe in giving everyone a fair chance to shine.

We also encourage you to reach out to us and discuss any reasonable adjustments we can make to support you throughout the recruitment process and your time with us.
